Plinth for charities

Raise the money, run the service, show the impact

Fundraising, case work, bookings, room hire, volunteers and reporting, in one system. What you record while you deliver is already there when a funder asks what happened: the register you took on Tuesday becomes evidence in next month's report.

01

Fundraising

Find the funders, write the bid and keep track of what you promised them, next to the work the money pays for.

Funder research

Describe your work and Pippin, our AI assistant, finds funders that fit and tells you why.

  • Pippin searches the web for funders that match your work, rates each one's fit and asks follow-up questions to narrow the list.
  • Each opportunity records eligibility, how to apply, what the money can be spent on, who to contact and what the funder expects at reporting time.
  • A pipeline tracks every bid from prospect to cultivating, asked and committed, with deadline and reporting reminders.

Within 10 minutes I had a great first draft of a grant and within 30 minutes I was submitting it.

Bids and applications

Drafts that start from what you have already written, not a blank page.

  • Upload past bids, impact reports and case studies to a content library. AI files each one by type and audience, and finds it again by meaning when you need it.
  • Give Plinth a funder's form and it suggests an answer to each question from your own documents, marked high, medium or low confidence.
  • Write in an editor where AI can rework a section on request, or review the whole application against the funder's criteria.

Donations and Gift Aid

Card donations into your own Stripe account, and Gift Aid claims prepared for HMRC.

  • Take donations and membership fees by card through Stripe Connect, paid into your organisation's own Stripe account.
  • Record Gift Aid declarations against each donor and track which donations you have claimed and when HMRC paid.
  • Export each claim as a spreadsheet in the columns of HMRC's Gift Aid schedule.

02

Running your services

Records for the people you support, written up faster, and seen only by the staff who should see them.

AI case notes

Talk through a session and get a written case note back, in your own format.

  • Record the conversation on a phone or laptop. It is transcribed with each speaker labelled.
  • The transcript is written up against your note template. The default covers key points, actions, assessment and risks.
  • Plinth suggests where the note belongs: a new case, an existing case, or a partner organisation's record.
  • You decide whether the audio is kept or deleted once the note is written.
  • Open-case notes can be checked for early warning signs such as domestic abuse, self-harm, exploitation or financial crisis, plus any categories you add.

Case management

Every person's support in one record, from first contact to outcome.

  • Each case carries a status (triage, open, paused or closed), a concern level, a case worker, the partner organisations involved and an outcome.
  • Workflows send the next form, survey, message or appointment invitation when a case moves on.
  • Case workers see their own caseload, weighted by how serious each case is.
  • Restricted users see only the cases assigned to them, and private notes can be limited further by tag.

Referrals and signposting

Send people to the right service and know whether they got there.

  • Refer someone to another organisation on Plinth or by email, with their consent and preferred contact method recorded, and follow the referral to completion.
  • For services outside Plinth, the signposting assistant finds the service's referral route, fills in its referral form or drafts the email, and logs the referral on the person's record.

Volunteers

Coordinate your volunteers, from first interest to active, and count their hours without timesheets.

  • Publish volunteer roles and move applicants through interested, contacted, applied, being vetted and active.
  • Hours are counted from the activities volunteers are recorded against, so they appear in your reports automatically.

Food and stock

Know what is on the shelves, what is going out of date and who has borrowed what.

  • Log stock in and out with use-by date, supplier, weight and value.
  • Print QR labels and scan items on a phone, one at a time or in batches.
  • Track equipment on loan and see what is overdue.

03

Bookings and venues

Sessions, courses and rooms, booked online and paid for by card.

Activity bookings

A public booking page for every session, and registers that fill themselves in.

  • Each activity gets a booking page at book.plinth.org.uk, and your whole calendar gets one too.
  • Sessions can be free or paid, booked singly or as a full course, with a waiting list, eligibility rules and a ticket limit per order.
  • Bookers get reminders on the schedule you set and can cancel single sessions themselves.
  • Prefer paper on the day? Photograph the register and Plinth reads it, matching names to existing people by name, postcode and date of birth.
  • Members check in by scanning a QR code at the door.

And once you move, you discover that you were adapting yourself around problems in your old system. Whereas now, it feels like the system fits how we want to work.

Room hire

Let hirers book and pay for rooms without the email back-and-forth.

  • Set up each room or piece of equipment with its capacity, opening hours, minimum notice and slot length.
  • Price by the hour, per person, at a flat rate or by the month, with different rules for different hirers.
  • Requests arrive in an approval queue, and clashes are caught before you confirm.
  • Hirers book from your public rooms page and pay by card.

Payments

Card payments for bookings, rooms and memberships, and a record of everything else.

  • Card payments go through Stripe into your own account.
  • Record cash, cheque, bank transfer and voucher payments against the same booking.
  • Issue refunds from Plinth, and send payment links or a page where people can settle what they owe.

Impact and funder reporting

The data you collect while delivering is the data you report with, so the end of a grant is not a scramble for numbers.

Reporting to funders

Start each funder report from the evidence you already hold.

  • Upload a funder's report template and Plinth pulls out the questions and the deadline.
  • It suggests which registers, forms and tags answer each question, and lists the gaps.
  • Fill a gap with a short survey it drafts, or with photos, audio and notes from the field.
  • Pippin drafts the report from that evidence for you to edit.
  • If your funder uses Plinth, its monitoring forms arrive in your account and AI drafts answers from the evidence held against that grant.
We can now come to them with clear evidence and data for the impact of the sector, and can speak with a collective voice.

Forms and surveys

Registration forms and outcome surveys that feed straight into your reports.

  • 23 question types, including Likert scales, rankings, file uploads and a Charity Commission lookup, with conditional logic.
  • Translate a form into other languages, or generate one from a document you already use.
  • Chain a registration form, follow-up surveys and reminders behind a single link.
  • Give answers an outcome score so survey results roll up into your outcome measures.

Reports

Charts from anything you record, broken down by place.

  • Build charts from any data you hold, broken down by ward, LSOA or deprivation decile.
  • Ask AI to explain a chart in a paragraph you can drop into a report.
  • Export to PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel or a social media carousel.

Moving to Plinth

Bring your records with you.

Data import

Upload your old exports and approve the changes before anything is saved.

  • Upload up to 50 files from Lamplight, Upshot, Charity Log, Eventbrite, Salesforce, spreadsheets or form tools. Paper records can be photographed.
  • An import assistant maps your old fields to Plinth and stages every change for you to review.
  • Approve the import when it looks right, and undo it if it does not.
